William C. Wheeler passed away on March 25th with the love of Diane, Whitney, family, and friends by his side, including his sister-in-law Kathleen on the phone in London.
Bill was born to Alson and Marilyn (Parker) Wheeler in Concord, NH, and sadly, they passed away when Bill was 9 and 11.
We know Bill is trucking again with his cousin Jack and Uncle John talking on his CB. Trucking was in Bill's blood, and he was driving an 18-wheeler at a very young age for his uncle John along with his cousin Jack both predeceased.
Bill is the youngest of four siblings. Donna Durgin of Warner NH, Bonnie, and Scott both predeceased him.
Bill enjoyed his family, friends, camping, the Harley that he and Diane bought to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary, Nascar, snowmobiling and a good chat with friends at a bar.
Bill met hundreds of people along his trucking journey and really enjoyed recounting all their stories with Diane after arriving home.
Bill was able to talk to and pet dogs the owners said didn't like people and that's how Bill was named Dr. Doolittle by Diane and Whitney.
One of Bill's all time favorite songs is "King Of The Road". Diane remembers him singing it when they started dating and also to Whitney when she was a baby. He sang it to a friend's daughter because she was crying and she quickly settled down and he also sang it to his mother-in-law when she was in Hospice.
Bill leaves behind his wife Diane after being married on May 3, 1986, his daughter Whitney Tayson, whom he loved more than anything, and his son-in-law Zach, whom he treated and loved like a son. Bill also leaves cousins, including Denise by his side and very special second cousins Dani by his side daily, Cate, Christine, and Jacqueline, whom he walked down the aisle at her wedding last summer. Nieces, including Renee, who was one of our rocks throughout the last few weeks, and nephews, as well as some very close friends he loved dearly—Bill's closest friend Eugene was a treasured friend who was by Bill's side, in person or on the phone, until his passing.
A casual gathering to share memories of Bill will be held at Alan's Restaurant, 133 N. Main Street, Boscawen, NH on Saturday, April 15th beginning at 1:00. Feel free to stop by throughout the afternoon to share memories of Bill.
Bill's family are so grateful for the ICU staff especially Meagan and Kelly who seemed to connect with us like friends we've known forever. We would also like to thank all our friends and family who surrounded us in Bill's room and the waiting room. We love you.
Feel free to make a donation in Bill's memory to an animal cause or an organization of your choice.
