Wilma Stanley Hill, 88, of Westmoreland, formerly of Hamilton, MA and West Palm Beach, FL, wife of the late Dr. Allen M. Hill, died August 5, 2002. Born in Manset, Maine, she was the daughter of Derby and Edith White Stanley. She graduated from Colby College. She was a clinical chemist in biological chemistry at Harvard Medical School and Childrens Hospital. After moving to Hamilton, MA, she organized Well Child Clinics as well as Bloodmobiles to communities outside of Boston. She was active in Scouts, the Beverly Hospital Aid Association, and Shore Country Day parent activities. After her children were grown, she became a biochemist for the US Department of the Interior, Bureau of Commercial Fisheries. She received awards for identification of fish species via electrophoresis, radiation-pasteurization of seafoods, and for the underutilization of species of fish and shellfish. She created recipes that were used by Julia Child on PBSs Bon Appetit. She is survived by her four children: John Brett Hill of Gloucester, MA, Judy Hill Mansfield of Ipswich, MA, Wendy Hill of Harrisville, NH, and Allen Chip Hill, Jr. of Nichols, NY, six grandchildren: Lee Mansfield of Wenham, MA, Tara Mansfield of Ipswich, MA, Liza Mindemann of Harrisville, NH, and Jessica, Heather, and Kristopher Hill of Nichols, NY, one great grandchild, Ethan Ham of Ipswich, MA and a niece Warrene Stanley Carriere and a nephew Gregory Stanley, both of Maine. She was the sister of the late Warren Stanley.
